Permits for temporary use of locations

As provided for by the Cultural Heritage and Landscape Code, Legislative Decree D.Lgs 42/2004, arts. 106-108, it is possible to apply for the use of locations in Museums and Archaeological sites for various different activities: television filming, filmmaking, photography, meetings, inaugurations, catering, gala dinners, exhibitions, entertainment, extended opening hours, etc.

The application should be addressed to the management of “Villa Adriana e Villa d’Este” Piazza Trento, 5 -00019 Tivoli (RM) and must reach the recipient at least 30 days before the event. It can also be sent to the following e-mail address: va-ve@beniculturali.it and must contain the following details:

  • applicant (private individual, owner or legal representative of the Company, Association, etc.)
  • address and phone numbers
  • description and purpose of the initiative
  • number of participants (staff members, expected audience/attendance and/or artists)
  • locations required
  • type and number of machines to be used (motor vehicles, cameras, etc.)
  • type of set-up and fittings (e.g. temporary frame structures, movable structures such as platforms, gazebos, furnishings, stages, lighting, amplification, scenery, etc.)
  • a project complete with drawings where necessary
  • time schedule of the event and possibly of the assembly and disassembly work

After this and if required, an inspection of the site may be conducted for the purpose of selecting the zone/s for which the permit will be issued. The inspection is made by the applicant or an appointed person in the presence of personnel from the Institute. The Permit for temporary use of locations comprises the subject of the permit, the methods for paying the fees, the requirements for protecting the site and visitors, besides reference to an insurance policy covering damage to objects and/or persons and a surety policy, which must be taken out by the applicant. In addition, an Agreement will also be drawn up concerning use of employees of “Istituto Autonomo Villa Adriana e Villa d’Este” to ensure protection, security and safeguarding of the structures for which the permit has been granted, with charges to be paid by the applicant.
