OPENING HOURS VILLA ADRIANA

The Archaeological Site of Villa Adriana is open every day at the following times:

8.30 a.m.-5 p.m. from 2 January to 31 January
8.30 a.m.-6 p.m. from 1 February to 29 February
8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. during the month of March *
8:30 a.m.-7.30 p.m. from the last Sunday of March until 31 August
8.30 a.m.-7.30 p.m. from 1 September to 30 September
8:30 a.m.-6.30 p.m. during the month of October **
8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.from the last Sunday of October until 31 December

*   from the last Sunday of March, as summer time starts, opening hours are 8.30 a.m.-7 p.m.
**   from the last Sunday of October, as winter time is resumed, opening hours are 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.

Please note that from 8 November 2020 until 28 February 2021, Villa Adriana will be open on Sundays and public holidays from 8.30 a.m. until 2 p.m. (the ticket office will close at 12.30 p.m.).


As recommended by the Museum General Management “You are hereby informed that this Institute undertakes to offer visitors the longest possible opening hours, in compliance with the criteria established for the opening hours to the public, security and safety of Italian state museums and cultural facilities provided for by Ministerial Decree D.M. of 30 June 2016, pending completion of the expected proceedings to overcome the current lack of staff and set up the consequent recruitment procedures”

While the exhibition “Après le déluge: viaggio fra opere riemerse e misconosciute” Sanctuary of Hercules Victor is being held, the cost of the cumulative admission ticket to Villa Adriana and the Sanctuary of Hercules Victor will be € 13.

Tariffs for Educational Tours

These tariffs may change when exhibitions are being held in the archaeological site. Ministerial Decree D.M. 9 January 2019, in force since 28 February 2019, established that:

  • admission is free of charge on every first Sunday of every month from October to March (suspended for safety reasons_Covid-19);
  • admission is free of charge during MuseumWeek (in 2019 from 5 to 10 March);
  • further 8 free admission days established by the Institutes: the VILLAE promote free admission every first Monday of every month from May to December (suspended for safety reasons_Covid-19)
  • tickets costing 2 euros for young people aged 18 to 25 years. For further incentives consult: MiBACT website. 8 March – International Women’s Day, free admission to women to museums and other cultural venues of the state (circ. No. 10 of 29/02/2016 Directorate-General of Museums).

Please also note the initiative whereby, each Monday, citizens of Tivoli and the neighbouring Municipalities (Castel Madama, Guidonia Montecelio, Marcellina, San Polo dei Cavalieri, San Gregorio da Sassola, Vicovaro, with the exception of Rome) are entitled to free admission (suspended for safety reasons_Covid-19)

The Antiquarium of Canopus is open to the public for temporary exhibitions or the special occasions indicated on this website.

OPENING HOURS VILLA d'Este

Opening hours at Villa d’Este monumental complex from 1 November 2017 onwards will be: 8.30 a.m. – 7.45 p.m. (the ticket office will close at 6.45 p.m.).

From Monday 14 September 2020 until 15 March 2021, the ticket office will close one hour before the visitors leave the garden, which they must do from the piazza Campitelli exit owing to the Covid-19 healthcare emergency.

The time at which visitors must leave the Garden depends on the time at which the sun sets during the month in question:

  • January: 4.45 p.m.;
  • February: 5.15 p.m.;
  • March: 6 p.m. (7 p.m. when summer time comes into force);
  • April 7.15 p.m.;
  • from May until August: 7.30 p.m.;
  • September: 7 p.m.;
  • October: 6.15 p.m. (5.15 p.m. when winter time returns),
  • November and December: 4.45 p.m..

However, the Villa will remain open until 7.45 p.m., last entrance 6.45 p.m. in conjunction with the ROSSO DI SERA project, whereby visitors can benefit from a discounted admission ticket at the price of € 6 (including exhibition) valid from the daily ticket office closing time of the month in question, without prejudice to the incentives provided for by the regulations governing admission to places of Italian culture, which can be consulted at the MiBACT website. This ticket does not entitle the holder to visit the Garden, which is without lighting at that time, but it is still possible to admire the Cloister, certain rooms in the Palace as well as a panoramic view of sunset from the Gran Loggia at the end of the Vialone. Visitors leave from the Piazza Trento exit.

The Villa d’Este opens at 2 p.m. on Mondays.

The complex remains closed on: Monday mornings, 1 January and 25 December, with the exception of special occasions which will be indicated on this website.

While the exhibition Ecce Homo: l’incontro fra il divino e l’umano per una diversa antropologia. Una introduzione (16 October 2020 – 10 January 2021) is being held, the full price ticket will cost € 12.

OPENING HOURS SANCTUARY OF HERCULES VICTOR

The Sanctuary is open every day at the following times:

11 a.m. – 5 p.m. from 2 January until 29 February
11 a.m.–6.30 p.m. during the month of March *
10 a.m.–7.30 p.m. from the last Sunday of March until 30 September
11 a.m.–6.30 p.m. during the month of October **
11 a.m.-5 p.m. from 26 October until 31 December

** from 26 October, as winter time is resumed, opening hours are 11 a.m. –5 p.m..

From 11 October 2020 until 28 February 2021, the Sanctuary of Hercules Victor will be open on Sundays and public holidays from 10.30 a.m. until 1.00 p.m.. The tour of the Santuario di Ercole Vincitore lasts approximately one hour.

You can book tickets for the Sanctuary of Hercules Victor online, at the coopculture website, and from the Ticket Office of Villa Adriana (Largo Marguerite Yourcenar, 1-Tivoli -RM). Tours can be arranged before opening hours (from 9 a.m.) for groups only. Booking is obligatory. There is a booking charge.

The Sanctuary of Hercules Victor remains closed on 1 January and 25 December, except in the case of special occasions for MiBACT projects.

Tours, including the Antiquarium are available for groups of a limited number of participants (up to 15 people) with admission every 15 minutes from opening hours until 45 minutes before the site closes. Visitors and tourist guides are reminded not to form crowds.
